1. Let’s talk about shopping and money. What do you know about the history of money?

I am not keen on history. It is not my favorite subject at school, but once we read a text about the origin of money in English. Paper money first appeared in France in the West and in Chine in the East. Before that money was made from gold and silver. That was real money as it was valuable: no inflation or anything like that. At first people used things which are rare I mean skins but it was not so convenient.

2. Do you like shopping? Why? Why not?

Shopping can be relaxing. You exchange small sheets of paper for something which is either beautiful or tasty. Even if you don’t buy anything I mean window shopping it may be pleasant experience as you go to different places which are full of eye catching things. They please your eyes. At some shops soft music is played so going there helps you to relax.

3. What questions can you ask your friend about the best shopping places in his/her native town/city?

Do you like shopping? Where do you go if you want to buy something beautiful and you have a lot of money? : Where do you usually buy things you need?

4. What can you advise a person who wants to buy a birthday present for his/her friend?

In my opinion the best thing to do is to talk to a friend about the thing which may be useful and pleasant. Guessing is not what helps you to make the right decision. If you want to do it secretly you had better think it over and over. The safest option is to remember what he wanted to buy lately. To my mind, a present shouldn’t be expensive and trendy. it must be useful and welcomed.

5. Parents usually give pocket money to their children. How do you usually spend your pocket money?

Girls often spend their pocket money on cosmetics and sweets. Boys usually buy computer games and videos. I am not so trendy. I bought an e-reader last year and I buy books online. I know that you can download many books as pdf files but they are just pictures and it is not comfortable to read them in this way. Apart from that it takes some time before they appear on the Internet. If a book came out a few days ago I can easily buy it. I don’t have to wait for it to be uploaded by someone.

А теперь рассмотрим найденное по теме Let’s talk about shopping на просторах интернета.

1. Let’s talk about shopping. Who does the shopping in your family?

My mum buys foodstuff and clothes, while my dad buys everything related to technology: computing, satellite TV and so on. I am occasionally asked to buy something uninteresting like bread and dairy products. I am rarely asked about my opinion on the things to buy. I think it’s unfair!

2. What can you advise a person who wants to buy many things (clothes, foodstuffs, etc.) but has little time?

It’s a common problem. We always have little time to do everything we need. I think that buying online can be a solution to this problem. It will not take you a lot of time to choose what you want from a catalogue on the Internet. Just a few clicks! They will be delivered by post. Isn’t it convenient? Unfortunately, it is not all that simple. You can’t see what you are buying. You should consider everything carefully before you make an order.

3. Parents usually give pocket money to their children. But some people think they shouldn’t do it as teenagers don’t work. What do you think about it?

You can’t learn how to swim if you are on the bank of a river. You can’t learn how to use money sensibly if you don’t have any. I suppose kids should be given a minimum amount of money to buy some essential things they do need. For instance, parents will not buy cosmetics for girls, but give them the same amount of money they would spend if they did it on their own.. It will teach their kids how to use it effectively.

4. Are you shopaholic?

Shopaholics are people who are always buying things which they don’t actually need. I am not so easily influenced by ads and other marketing tricks. I rely on common sense while dealing with money. To begin with I use cash only. Credit cards give people a false illusion that they have more money than they do. I always make a shopping list before going to a shop. If you use one you will never buy something which is not on the list. I seldom go to buy food when I am hungry. So I get the amount of food I need. Hungry people buy more than it is necessary.
