1.Let’s talk about your family. What is family for you?

My family is very important to me. They are a safe place for me in the world full of strangers. They help and support me and expect me to do so when I grow up and they become too old. They look after me now, I will do the same in return.

2.Do you have any family traditions?

Family traditions are the things we do as members of a family. They are very important as they create specific memories which form our personality when we grow up. Nowadays people always hurry up to keep up with the others. They even don’t have enough free time to eat in the evening just to enjoy the time they spend together. In our family we have a tradition to eat out once a month. We go to some cafe to have fun and celebrate something. While going to some place we usually switch off our mobile phones as nobody can disturb us. It gives some sense of unity.

3.What will you ask your British friend about his/her family?

1. Do you have a close relationship with all your relatives?
2. What are you grateful to your parents for?
3. What do you like doing together with your relatives?

4.What can you advise people who want to have a good relationship with their parents and grandparents?

Вариант What can you advise people who want to get on well with their parents
Sometimes teenagers have difficulty communicating effectively with their parents. Teenagers are full of energy and always have what to say on this or that matter. We like commenting on things about which we know very little. We are often impatient and careless. Our parents and grandparents are more experienced and careful with everything they touch. If you want to have a good relationship with your parents and grandparents you should try to be like them. Be polite and listen to others. Think over your actions and don’t hurry when you make decisions. Once they see that you are sensible, you’ll win their respect.

5.They say that parents and children have difficulties understanding each other because of the generation gap. What do you think about this problem?

To my mind the root of the evil lies in the fact that teenagers and their parents don’t want to admit that kids are ready for making their own decisions and parents are still responsible for their kids’ actions. Parents should trust their kids more. Teenagers should show more respect to their parents’ point of view. Any problem can be worked out if both sides look for solutions.

Are there any things that you do with your parents / family together?

Unfortunately, no. Our interests and hobbies are different. We like doing different things. Having something in common I mean a common activity to be involved in will give me a lot of pleasure.

What can you advise a person who wants to have a close and happy family?

Some people say that if you want to have a friend, be a friend. If you want to have a close and happy family you should do your best to make all the members of it happy. They don’t ask for much. You should respect their feelings and look after them when they are ill. If you do something wrong you should apologise to them.

What can you advise people who want to get on well with their parents?

Ответ на этот вопрос идентичен следующему вопросы — What can you advise people who want to have a good relationship with their parents and grandparents?

Do you often spend your free time with your parents?

No. I wish I spent more time with them. They are always busy doing something important. They often have no time for my childish problems. I can cope with most of my problems on my own, but sometimes we need sympathy and a smile. Being able to work out a problem by yourself doesn’t mean that I need no emotional support.
