Билет №4: Let’s talk about friendship and relations with friends (B1)

Билет № 4 (Let’s talk about friendship and relations with friends) в основном предлагается в одном и том же виде.

1. Let’s talk about friendship and relations with friends. What role do friends play in your life?

If members of your family are unable to help you, you will possibly ask your friends for help. Sometimes your relatives are older than you and it is difficult for them to understand that your problem is really serious. Grown-ups often think that kids’ problems are not problems at all. If a person fails to understand you, he can’t help you. Our friends often experience the same problems as you do, their help can be more effective. My friends are very important to me. They help me and I help them.

2. Can you rely on your best friend? Why (not)?

I suppose I can rely on my best friend. (S)he is both clever and brave. We can sort out any problem a teenager may have. His/her bravery helps to calm down when a situation is hot. His/her sense of humour helps his/her to cheer me up when I am ready to give up.

3. What questions do you usually ask when you want to get acquainted with someone?

What is your hobby? Who is your favourite writer? What kind of person is your best friend?

4. What can you advise a teenager who has no friends?

Teenagers are often afraid to start a conversation as they think that another person may refuse to talk to them. I don’t think that it is a problem. It is normal that different people like different things. You should try making friends with strangers and some of them may become your best friends in the future. If you don’t try you will never know it for sure. Smile and try to tell a joke. Be positive and hope for the better.

5. They say: “A person has just one true friend”. What do you think about this?

I think it’s true. None can be in two different places at the same moment. It is impossible and I think you can’t be loyal to two different people at the same time. You can be good to many people, but it has nothing to do with being a true friend. A true friend will do everything for you, a good person usually says something like that: «I am sorry, I can’t help you…». Do you see the difference?

What’s your best friend like?

My friend has an attractive appearance and a great personality. She is loving and caring. She never criticizes me and refuses to help. I can always rely on her. She is both clever and brave. We can sort out any problem a teenager may have. Her bravery helps her to calm down when a situation is hot. Her sense of humour helps her to cheer me up when I am ready to give in.

If you want to get acquainted with a person what questions will you ask him/her?

1. What are your likes and dislikes?
2. What is you favourite book? Why?
3. What is your hobby?

Give some recommendation to a newcomer who wants to make friends in a new school?

Look around! You are going to become a member of some community. You are unlikely to change it. You should find your place in it. Keep an eye on other people and try to understand what kind of people they are. Be polite and don’t talk much until you know the person you talk quite well.

5. They say: “Friendship isn’t a big thing – it’s a million little things. “ What is your opinion about friendship?

I think the saying is true. While communication with a person there are loads of things you have to remember so as not to get him or her down. Having a friend means reaching compromises between your common needs. Even twin brothers are not alike, let alone people who are not related by blood. Even if one person blindly copy another one there must be some differences no matter how little they are.

Nowadays teenagers have got up to 300 friends in Contact. What do you think about it?

There is nothing to boast of, to my mind. I am certain that they haven’t met with the vast majority of them outside the net. How can you call someone a friend if you see each other fewer than once in a week. Passers-by are not your real friends. They are come and go people in your life.
