1. Let’s talk about education. What can you tell me about studying at school?

As for me, studying at school is like a job for grown-ups. My education is my investment in my future, though there is no guarantee that it will pay off. I not only attend my school, but try to use any opportunity to become more knowledgeable. I often ask different questions about the things which are on the agenda. Most of my teachers are willing to help me to deepen my knowledge and carry out further research in the spheres which arouse my interest. Studying is all about the chances we are given. Just not being physically absent has little to do with real education.

2. Does your school have any traditions?

I regret to admit that my school has no peculiar school traditions. Our school has always wanted to keep up with the Joneses. You see, getting rid of old-fashioned ideas for the sake of novelty? I wouldn’t say that I disapprove of the new, but I wish we had some kind of tradition I mean a school uniform for boys and girls or some sort of ceremony, for instance, a farewell party to school leavers which is not new to my grandparents, to say the least.
3. Ask a British teenager about his/her school life
4. What can you advise a student who is not very good at languages to do to achieve better results?
5. Today some young people think that having a good education is not very important. Do you agree with them?

Does school play an important role in giving a person a good start in life or not?

Being successful at school doesn’t guarantee your overall success as our life is about applying knowledge. At school we are simply taught how to get knowledge. Having something and being able to make use of it are not the same. As for giving a good start, there is not any place like school. We are taught basics ant it is up to us to put them into practice.

How can a person develop his talents and abilities at school clubs?

School clubs and optional classes give anyone a chance to master areas which are out of scope of traditional subjects. Optional classes let you study subjects ate a higher level, whereas school clubs will allow you to go in for various after class activities. That’s why my advice is to give a try to each opportunity you face. Self discovery is what we seek at school.

Education is the highest privilege of the day. What do you think about it?

When you are a teenager, your abilities are rather limited. You can’t travel all over the world. You are not allowed to work or you don’t have to if you like it this way. Children don’t see education as privilege since they are obliged to do some. The proper understanding comes much later, especially when application letter to university has been turned down. A privilege is something which the few have, but most don’t.

Today some young people want to study abroad because they believe that the level of education is higher there. Would you do the same?

I am not sure that the level of education abroad is higher than that in Belarus. Those who want to study abroad believe that they will be able to study and work at the same time. They want to stay there and in this case diplomas from local universities will be more useful than the ones you get in Belarus. They don’t care about the quality of education they are down to earth.
