Разбираем тему Let’s talk about life in the city or in the country

1. Let’s talk about different types of houses. Tell me about the house/flat you live in.

I live in a two room flat. It has all modern conveniences like gas, electricity, running hot and cold water. My parents live in the bigger room and I have my own room. The furniture we have is ordinary: beds, tables, chairs.

2. Where would you like to live: in the city or in the country? Why?

I am a teenager now and I’d prefer to live in the city now. There are more possibilities in town than in the country. When I grow up, I will still prefer to live in town, but my choice will be to live on the outskirts of a big city. Less air and noise pollution. When I have retired I will move to a quiet village in the country. I will have got tired of people by then, I am afraid.

3. Ask me what my flat/house looks like.

Where is your house situated? What do you like most about your flat? What would you like to change in your flat?

4. Your friend doesn’t know what to choose to live in a city or in the country. Give him/her some advice.

When you are young you should do everything you can to find out who you really are. You should try out any activity. You can’t find a better place for it than a big city. The more people around you the more opportunities you will have. I would advise him to go to a big city to test himself.

5. How do you see an ideal flat/house?

My ideal flat should have five rooms at least so that everyone will have their own room. Privacy is what I value most. Sometimes I like to be with other people enjoying fun and laughter, but from time to time I want to be alone. Apart from that I don’t want to have much furniture in it. Big windows will make the rooms bigger.

А сейчас разберем вопросы к теме Let’s talk about life in the city or in the country, которые предлагаются в других школах РБ.

1. Why do young people prefer living in town?

The younger you are, the more fun you want to have. Towns are so colourful and bright that it is impossible for the young to go anywhere else. Towns attract us just as a fire attracts butterflies.

2. East or West, home is best. Do you agree with it?

If you have traveled enough you will agree. If you are in your teens you are most gladly to go anywhere to taste anything different to what you have got used to.

3. Do you find your town a comfortable place for living?

I am happy enough not to live in a big city. It doesn’t take me much time to go from one place to another. We haven’t got much variety of everything in my town, but our life is less stressful than in a big city.

4.What questions would you like to ask a teenager who lives in the country?

Do you like living in the country? Do you dream of moving to a big city.

5.If your parents ask for your opinion where to move: to the city or to the country, what would you recommend them to do?

If they are pensioners living in the country may suit them, otherwise staying in the city is preferable. It is difficult to find a well paid job in the country. The ecological situation in the country is better but living there has its disadvantages as well.

6.They say that living in the country is better than living in a city. What do you think about this?

It is not all that simple. It is healthier to live in the country, but you will have to accept a salary cut. In my opinion you should move to the country after your retirement if your health doesn’t make you do so earlier.
