What are, or will be, the most important things to you about your career?

When something related to a career is brought up, most people instantly think of career prospects and of course promotion to the highest position possible. In most jobs the things mentioned above are really important, but my future occupation is quite different from a typical 9 to 5 job. I want to be a translator. This kind of employment gives me not only relative freedom in comparison to that of ordinary office workers but also gives some other benefits like working from home if I am to make written translations of manuals and instructions of different sort or going even further by becoming a freelancer. They don’t have to commute to and from office everyday. They work on demand. Employers pay high-fliers for the actual amount of work done only. The former economise by not paying for standby time. The latter have time to find something to do and get a decent payment for well done work. The only important thing about my career for me is to master my language skills as only a good command of languages will let me be a master of myself.

How many hours a day do you think people ought to work?

I think it’s in all interests that a worker could be able to work to the best of his abilities. Having workers overwork will result in an increase in profit for employers initially but it is a vicious way which turns out to be disastrous in the long run. Exhausted workers are unable to work effectively and the quality of work will inevitably decrease. Greediness has always lead to nowhere if you are in doubt look back on the history of slavery empires.. Employers have to take care of their employees as wellbeing of the latter will ensure being well off of the former. In medical terms, eight’s hour sleep is enough for most people. Sleep deprivation is a serious threat to mental health and may result in injuries on production lines. Apart from sleep we all need some time to recharge out batteries and be ready to work to the full. Last but not least, we need some time to enjoy ourselves while being with our family. I think that 8 hours is enough for work as lengthening the duration of a working day implies depriving workers of sleep and rest which is not a good day. The days of slavery are, hopefully, in the past.

What do you like in your country that you won’t find anywhere?

Well… I firmly believe that what is common place for some people reveals its peculiarities to others. It’s a mystery but it works this way. The word inexplicable is what springs to my mind when I think about the things which make this or that place dear to us. When we got used to something we start to associate ourselves with it and in its turn it becomes some part of us. Maybe the right explanation lies in psychological assimilation of both people and the things around them. Leaving out psychology you will see that our mother land is rich in many things which may arouse interest in newcomers. Our nature is like Belorussians unusually calm and breathtakingly beautiful. Thanks to God, natural disasters are rare, for instance, there are no rivers which burst their banks. Mountains are scarce so active volcanoes and earthquakes are not a threat for us. Our lakes and forest are gorgeous and eye-catching. Apart from nature there are many man created thing which may appeal to you. As for cultural heritage, our castles I mean those in Mir and Neswizh are rightfully included in the UNESCO’s heritage list. The modern masterpiece of architecture the national library is worth paying a visit. And last bot not least, it’s not a place that makes people special but people themselves make it peculiar. Any nation has its best features but I think that we are a unique combination of tolerance and hospitality. Our country is situated in the center of Europe. Due to our geographical position we have dealt with different comers from various place whose customs and traditions are new to us. Our past taught us a lesson of hospitality and tolerance. We don’t take offense at something which is not similar to our way of doing this or that thing, We are readily learn from other peoples’ cultural traditions
