Can you think of an example when practice and hard work helped a person achieve his ambitions?

As for me it is undoubtedly true. To become a success we should work to the best of our abilities. Of course we may gain something by sheer luck but it is not necessary to be what we aim at. Coming by something of value usually calls for numerous attempts. To exemplify what I already said take Thomas Edison for example. I mean the invention of the electric bulb. He is said to have carried out thousands of experiments before he got it right. To my mind he is a perfect example of a person who achieved his ambition by working hard and refusing to admit defeat.

Can we do without revision?

No way. While learning something our brain cells create links between each other. The links created help us recollect what has been learnt by heart recently. Just imagine you’ve built something. Time passes and you do nothing to do up it. It starts deteriorating. And one day your once work of art is not as beautiful as it used to be. The same goes for what you learnt once.

What kind of people achieve better results in learning: those who have natural abilities or those who work harder?

Gifted and lazy vs mediocre and hard working. It resembles me a story of a hare and a turtle which decided to go in for a running competition. The hare was incomparably better at running than the turtle. Found himself far ahead he fell asleep. It’s a small wonder that the turtle was the winner at that competition. It’s only a tale, but the gifted often come second after the hardworking.

What part of the language requires a great deal of practice?

As for me it is learning new vocabulary which takes up a lot of time. In the beginning we find it difficult to speak without a strong accent. Little by little we master our pronunciation skills and in some time we stop paying particular attention to it. English grammar is comparatively easy, though it may give as a fright. When it comes to learning vocabulary it becomes unbearable. A lot of words have multiple meaning. It’s so easy to mistake one word for another. That’s why we have to work hard for fear we might misuse a word or a phrase.
