Like употребляется в следующих случаях:

1. Для выражения сходства, но не классификации.
She speaks like a professor.
Она говорит, как профессор, но такой не является.
2. с глаголами look, smell, sound и feel
I don’t feel like being talk to in such a rude manner.
3. С местоимениями и герундием для выражения сходства.
It is like being lost in a dark forest.

As употребляется в следующих случаях:

1. Для указания на профессию.
She works as a professor at university.
В этом случае она им является на самом деле, а не просто похоже или ведет себя таким образом.
2. В составе устойчивых конструкций таких как: as usual, as… as, as much, such as, the same as.

3. После ряда глаголов: accept, be known, class, describe, refer to, regard, use.
