Children (attract) are attracted to all kinds of animals. One of them, however, is extremely popular with both kids and adults. The creature is the giant panda. Its appeal is so universal, that it (be) has been the emblem of the World Wildlife Fund since 1961. There are many reasons behind the panda’s appeal, some of which (connect) are connected/have been connected to its attractive appearance, habits and lifestyle. The panda (look) looks like a super teddy-bear, and its size is a plus as large animals (perceive) are perceived more positively than small ones. Even if you (try) try/tried, you (not /improve) will not improve/wouldn’t improve its eye-catching white and black coat with its powerful color contrast. People also like the way pandas behave, sometimes in an amazingly human like way. When they (present) are presented with a new toy, pandas (invent) invent/will invent many tricks playing for hours on end. Let us hope that this delightful creature (win) will win the race for survival. The world would be so much poorer without its amazing giant panda!
Упр 2
I (write) am writing to you to complain about some fashion boots (buy) bought from your Westborough branch last Wednesday. When I (put) put them on for the first time at the weekend, it (rain) was raining and after a few minutes the boots (let) let the water in. The next day I took the boots to your shop and asked the assistant who (sell) had sold/sold them to me to replace the boots. But she said the boots (not / replace) would not be replaced because they (wear /already) had already been worn. But how could I have seen the defect without wearing them? Besides, I can’t believe the boots (make) are made/have been made to wear in dry weather only! I (be) would be grateful to you if you (send) would send me a replacement pair that will not let water in.
Упр 3
My name is Sandra. I (study) am studying chemistry at university and when I (graduate) have graduated this summer I’d like to go abroad for a year to do some research. I (plan) have been planning this for a long time. But now my boyfriend who is four years older than me (ask) has asked me to marry him. I love him very much but I wish I (not to have) didn’t have to decide now. I’m sure that if we (get married) got married he (insist) would insist on my giving up career because he (like) would like to start a family. If only he (wait) would wait a year or so. then I would have time to make up my mind. It’s the first time I (face) have been faced with such a serious choice and J am sure he is the very man I (look) have been looking for all my life.
Упр 4
Climbing volcanoes (become) has become a popular tourist pastime in recent years. I have always wanted to try it and when I (find) found out that the cone of Maderas in Nicaragua (collapse) had collapsed inwards leaving a crater lake at the top, this seemed to be my chance. I persuaded two friends, Rob and Sarah, to go with me. Unfortunately, very little planning (do) had been done before the trip, and so the whole thing turned into a disaster. Once we arrived at the summit. Rob and Sarah wanted to go back down immediately, I felt that as we had come this far it (be) would be a waste-of effort not to swim. The moment I dived in to the muddy water I felt that I (sink) was sinking down into its lifeless depths. After I had struggled out of the water, we started back down but by then it (rain) had been raining hard for such a long time that the slope was slippery and dangerous. When we finally arrived back at the hotel, Sarah discovered that she had picked some mountain parasite and (cover) was covered in red spots. Since then I (not to climb) haven’t climbed again, and when I (ask) am asked,’ So, will you climb any more volcanoes soon?’ My answer is clear- absolutely not!
Упр 5
Tom Wilson is an explorer. He (be) has been to nearly every country in the world, but the most exciting time he (ever have) has ever had was when he (go) went to the Congo jungle. A magazine (ask) (had) asked him to retrace the route of a famous explorer who (disappear) had disappeared in the 1920s. As he (follow) was following a small river, he got separated from his guides. He went on alone, hoping he (find) would find them, but instead he encountered a group of natives. He stayed with them for several days and (find out) found out a very old woman (actually to meet) had actually met the famous explorer. She (know) knew how he (die) had died. Tom (became) became very friendly with the natives and he (plan) is planning to go back and see them again. He is sure they (welcome) will welcome him back.

Frederick’s best friend. a very wealthy man named Sir Ernest Frump, (be) was/had been greatly upset by this, so he started spending a great deal of time and money to secure Frederick’s release. Sir Ernest strongly believed that Frederick was normal and (always/be) had always been. He finally persuaded three well known psychiatrists to assess Frederick. in the hope that they (realize) would realize what a huge mistake (make) had been made. “If you talked to him, you (see) would see what a completely sane man he is,” insisted Sir Ernest. “I (try) have been trying for years to set my friend free. I wish someone (listen) would listen to me!” The day of the assessment finally arrived. Frederick (sit) sat/was sitting perfectly relaxed while the three doctors (ask) asked/were asking him questions. “What will you do when you leave here?” one of them asked “Will you get a job?” “Well I (think) have been thinking about it.” replied Frederick. “I (not make up) haven’t made up my mind yet. though Perhaps I’ll write a book or I may take up painting again.” He paused and smiled at the doctors. who (listen) were listening carefully to his reply. “But on the other hand.
